Gerald 'Jerry' Eugene Gentzen, 65, of Tulsa, Ok, passed away October 2, 2016 after a courageous fight with ALS. He was born September 2, 1951 in Chicago to Ronald and Beverly Gentzen. He married Robin Neu and had 2 sons Jeffrey and Grant. He is preceded in death by Ron and Beverly Gentzen and his sister, Cindy Gentzen Holloway. He is survived by his wife Michelle Gentzen, who he married in 1999; his sons, Jeffrey Barrett Gentzen, Grant Todd Gentzen and his wife Meggie Gentzen and granddaughter Reid Gentzen, his nephew Matthew Holloway, uncle and aunt, Keith and Carolyn Gentzen of Chicago and their families. While in college, Jerry worked as the Assistant Sports Information Director at University of Tulsa and was also a proud part of the Delta Omega Chapter of Sigma Chi. Out of college he worked at Sooner Federal before moving to Hillcrest Hospital's marketing department. Soon thereafter, he started Gentzen Marketing Communications Associates with his father Ron. They went on to win numerous advertising and marketing awards for their creativity and commitment to the client. To explore other challenges and avenues professionally, he worked at Phipps and Company, TD Williamson, and McGraw Realtors, and most recently, his own company, Marketing Energy. He was an avid outdoorsman and never missed an opportunity to go fishing or hunting with family or his many friends. He loved spending time at 'The Duck Camp', fishing on Pump Back Lake ('his church'), hunting geese in Kansas with his club the Great Plains Waterfowlers, and fishing on the river at 'Fish Camp'. He also loved exploring new fishing and hunting destinations in Canada, Mexico, and all over the USA. Throughout his life he remained a loyal Sigma Chi, devout Tulsa Golden Hurricane sports fan, and because of his ties to Chicago, a very faithful Cubs and Bears enthusiast even when it was most painful to watch. His Cubs hat will be in his ashes with him when he be laid to rest in the Pump Back Lake (over his favorite point), and in shotgun shells to be fired at ducks and geese in Kansas and Oklahoma. We may even take some with us to Wrigley Field and Soldier Field next time we go. Services are to be held Friday, October 14th at 1:00pm at the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in his memory to ALS Patient Services Outreach, or the Jerry Gentzen Memorial Scholarship Fund for Sigma Chi Delta Omega Chapter, at the University of Tulsa.
