Obituary

Jimmy Gordon McClanahan, age 75, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jim was born on February 17, 1940 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He liked fishing and golf... (And unfortunately wasnt very good at either one!)... Jim watched Thunder basketball like his life depended on it. He also watched boxing, racing and golf, but as far as regular TV he defaulted to his wife Kay. He was a stoic man and rarely talked about feelings, like Joe Friday from the show Dragnet. "Just the facts"! He was logical and, to a point, over-analytical. When driving on vacation, he would ask his wife, 'we've been driving for miles and were still passing the SAME fence. I wonder how many fence posts are on this fence?" He would often get out a calculator and figure as closely as possible how many fence posts were on the property based on its estimated size. This attention to detail carried over into his personal life on a daily basis. He loved his dog, Pia, a stray he took in almost 15 years ago. He was a good man and would never take credit for any of his good deeds. He would just say "well, what else could I do?' He always seemed to make the next "right" choice... He unintentionally showed his caring side when his stepdaughter, Michele, had a stroke in 2013 when he took her in, cared for her and even helped her daily with her physical therapy for over a year until she could get her own apartment. He was generous and doted on his wife. Jim will be missed by all that knew him. Jim is preceded in death by his parents; step granddaughter: Danielle and step son-in-law: Randy. Survivors include his wife: Catherine of the home; sons: Gary and Randall; grandchildren: Sarah, Rutie Sue, Roark; step children: Michele Godwin, Tony D'Apolito; step grandchildren: Toni Rose, Jordan and Aaron Michael.
