Jimmy was born August 12, 1966, in Houston, TX, the second of three siblings. He died July 6, 2023, of complications from a stroke.

His survivors include his parents, Ross and Carolyn; his children, Hunter Safford, Austin, and Hailyn Faith; his brother Gene; and his grandson Liam Safford. His younger sister Carrie preceded him into the afterlife.
