Joan Wells of Catoosa, Oklahoma passed away September 6, 2017 at the age of 78. She was born August 14, 1939 to John and Content Lathrop in Harvey, Illinois. She attended Wirt High School, Gary Indiana graduating in 1957. Joan met the love of her life, Carl while she was Head Cashier at Household Finance Corporation in Gary, Indiana. They have been married 58 years. Carls career required numerous relocations which included IN, IL, KY, CA, MI, TX and finally Oklahoma in 1985. She became an expert supervisor of Allied Van Line overseeing packing and unpacking their household goods. Love of Carl and her family were always her number 1 priority. Joans mothering is fondly remembered for having eyes in the back of her head and earning the name "RADAR" from her teenagers. She also cooked delicious family meals every evening complete with main dishes, side dishes salad, bread, and milk. She was all her childrens #1 fan at whatever sport they tried. Her friends and family remember her carefree laughter over inside jokes and silly TV shows or movies such as The Pink Panther, Woody Allen and The Benny Hill Show. Joan was always an avid reader of historical novels, mysteries, and satires making her the Catoosa librarians favorite customer. Carl and Joan were huge baseball fans. She loved the Atlanta Braves while Carl was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan which resulted in constant playful sarcasm between the two. Joan had an outstanding career with H R Block as an office manager and tax preparer for 32 years with many loyal clients who will surely miss her expertise. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years Carl Wells; 3 children Patricia Bishop, Lawrence, KS; Scott Wells, Gainesville, GA; and Terri Wells-Harney, Albuquerque, NM; and 5 grandchildren.
