John J. Bohan Obituary John Joseph Bohan passed away March 18th, 2020, at Tulsa, Oklahoma. The son of Tim and Sadie (Winegarden) Bohan, he was born in 1933 on a farm South of Shell Rock, Iowa. He went to a one room country school for the first eight grades and then attended and graduated from Shell Rock High School in 1950. During his first year out of high school he was employed by the local John Deere dealer and then attended Gates Business College at Waterloo, Iowa. He was an accountant for Waverly Motor Company and in 1954 transferred to Arends Johnson Motors in Humboldt, Iowa. In 1955 Agrico Chemical Company was building a new production plant at Humboldt, Iowa and he was employed as an accounts receivable clerk. Over the years, he filled in at every desk in the Agrico accounting office and helped open a new sales office in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1972. Two years later he transferred to the home office in Tulsa as field accounting supervisor. In 1978 he transferred to the Verdigris production plant as supervisor of accounting. John retired in 1997 after 41 years with Agrico and succeeding companies including The Williams Companies. John's activities included flying airplanes, operating a corn combine, bowling, camping, motorcycling, boating, golfing, trapshooting, woodworking and serving as a volunteer ambulance attendant & driver. John married Betty Kruse at Humboldt, Iowa in 1956. They were the parents of four sons and a daughter, Stephen (Diane) & Michael (Kathy) of Humboldt, Iowa, Richard (Yufang) of Houston, Texas, Bill (Kay) of Grimes, Iowa, and Joan of Tulsa. John is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, a brother (Jerry), and two brothers-in-law. He is survived by sisters Marie Schmitz of La Mesa, California, Rita Cours of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and brother Tom (Jackie) Bohan of El Cajon, California as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
