John (Chris) Christopher Bloomfield, 63, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away April 11, 2018. Chris was born in Houston, TX but grew up on Illinois and Long Island, NY. He graduated from Stony Brook University and started a career in property management in New York City. He switched carriers and began working for the United States Postal Service in 2000. He retired early due to his disability. He loved his postal family and was proud of the work he did there. He spent his retirement remodeling his home and was so talented, a mister-fix-it. Chris could do anything. He loved everyone and had a wide and diverse group of friends. He never missed a chance to help someone no matter what the need. He loved his pets and doted on them. He married his wife Verla on January 6, 2006. He adored her, and she was the constant shining light in his life. He was passionate about social inequality and injustice and was never shy about voicing his opinion. He loved music and good food and enjoyed attending concerts and dining out with his wife. He adopted Oklahoma State University as his own and followed them with passion along with his Cowboy alum wife, Verla. He will be missed by his many friends and family. John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Norma Bloomfield and his brother, Thomas Bloomfield. He is survived by his wife, most beloved, light of his life, Verla. Five children, Lauren Kirk, Brett Kirk, Sean Bloomfield, James Bloomfield, Christina Bloomfield and Alex Rivera who was like a son to him. Three sisters, Lori Long, Kelly Bloomfield and Anne Faulbusch, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nita and Jerry Smith of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and his sister in law, Anita Bloomfield, whom he adored and considered as a sister. Brother in law, Brian Smith of Austin, Brother and sister in-law Tino and Kelly Ramirez of Dallas as well as many nieces and nephews who he loved. The family asks that contributions in Chris name can be made to the Tulsa Human Society. No services are planned at this time.
