John Everett Foster, 56, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2021, after battling a long illness. John is survived by his parents, Don and Paula Foster of Fort Gibson, OK; son, Joe Foster of Tulsa, OK; brothers Scott Foster of Florham Park, NJ and Brian (Anna) Foster of Castle Rock, CO; sister Bonnie DeFord of Castle Rock, CO; former spouse, Jamie Hamilton of Broken Arrow, OK; step daughters Allison Giles and Melissa Giles of Tulsa, OK and Megan (Austen) Bissonnette of San Antonio, TX and his cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and step grandsons.
Born and raised in Tulsa, John grew up in a busy household that was always full of friends and extended family. After his service in the Navy, John began his diverse career in media and radio. He served as music and program directors for several stations in Lawton and Tulsa; KSWO, KELI, KMOD, K107 and others. He spent many years as a self-employed concert and community event producer and volunteer, producing Tulsa festivals such as Octoberfest, Mayfest, Juneteenth and Rooster Days. He was very active in Boy Scouts as a child and also as an adult scoutmaster and executive. His career eventually took him to Denver where he enjoyed success as a senior project manager in the telecom industry, until suffering a debilitating motor vehicle accident.
Some of John's great loves include his beloved African Grey parrot Gus, Nascar, OU football, Dallas Cowboys, smoking meat, throwing BBQ parties, camping and off-roading in his Xterra in the mountains of Colorado. Some say John was a big kid in a man's body (no argument here!). He is known for his devotion to his son, his giant heart and "larger than life" outgoing personality. Not only would he give you the shirt off his back, he just might give you a kidney he's not using. (And that kidney is still serving his brother Brian well, these many years later.) John absolutely NEVER met a stranger.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Grace Hospice, Rivercross Hospice and to Clarehouse for their exceptionally kind and loving care.
To honor John's wishes, there will be no formal service.
In remembrance of John's life, the family requests donations be made to Clarehouse of Tulsa.
