John T. Halbrook passed away on Monday, April 6th after a long battle with cancer. As the son of an oil man, John and his family moved frequently but his formative years were spent in Calgary B.C. The family eventually returned to Tulsa where John graduated from Edison High School. John continued his education with a degree from Oklahoma State University and later from Tulsa University with a degree in accounting. There were two major cares in John's life. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was a recipient of three bronze stars and of the 'Four Chaplains' award. John was an active member of the Viet Nam Veterans' Chapter # 216. The other great care in John's life was his 20 year friendship with Bill W. John is survived by his son Nick of Vinita and Nick's mother Linda of Okmulgee. A celebration of John's life will be held at the Oil Capital meeting at the Fellowship Congregational Church at 2900 S. Harvard. The meeting will be at 7:30p.m. Thanksgiving gifts in John's honor may be made to the Clarehouse, 7617 S. Mingo Rd. or to VVA at Box 700663, Tulsa.
