Obituary

On Thursday, September 21, 2017, Jonathan Taylor Hartung ended his suffering and entered everlasting joy in the presence of the Lord. He will be greatly missed by his mother Christy, his grandfather Jack, his aunt Angela, his uncle Jeff, and his cousins Maggie, Evan, Phillip, and Abigale, as well as all who knew and loved him. Born in east Tennessee on June 30, 1993, Jonathan called Tulsa his home from the age of 2. He was a happy baby who grew into a loving, caring, positive, and active individual. Jonathan spent most of his childhood time out-side of school playing baseball, skate boarding, and with the Boy Scouts of America. He also enjoyed playing golf, football, and soccer as well as bowling. Jonathan was partially homeschooled and successfully obtained his G.E.D. with honors. Jonathan attended church at Cornerstone, Tulsa Bible Church, and Believers, where he was involved with the youth and helped with the 4-year old class with his mother. Additionally, Jon raised funds for and participated on four mission trips to Costa Rica. At the time of his death, Jon spent his time working towards his journeyman's electrical license. He followed and surpassed his mother's propensity for handiwork. He could take on increasingly varied and difficult jobs, which allowed him to operate his own side business, Hart Handiman Service. Jonathan struggled with drug abuse issues most of his adult life which led to mental health issues, trouble with the law, and his eventual death. In the last weeks of his life, his regrets out shadowed any light of hope that filtered through. Go in peace young man. We love you. Serenity Prayer God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as a pathway to peace; taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen. ~ Reinhold Niebuhr You Are a Child of Mine Ive been hearing voices Telling me that I could Never be what I want to be. Theyre binding me with lies, haunting me at night, and saying theres nothing to believe. Somewhere in the quietness, When Im overcome with loneliness, I hear You call my name. And like a father You are near And as I listen I can hear You say You are a child of Mine Born of My own design and you bear the heart of life. No matter where you go, Oh, you will always know You have been made free in Christ. You are a child of Mine. ~ Mark Schultz
