Joe Roberts, 85, formerly of Amarillo, Texas passed away March 13, 2016 with all of his children at his side. He was born October 27, 1930 to L. C. and Lona Jane Roberts. He grew up in Puxico, Mo., where he loved and played basketball for Coach Arnold Ryan. Joe left home as a teenager to work construction for an uncle in west Texas. He met and married Bonnie Kennedy of Nash, Ok. and had 62 lively years together before she passed in 2012. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Lona Jane Roberts, wife Bonnie, great grandson Jamon Cox, sisters Mary Roberts Clark, Francis Roberts Andrews, brothers John, Charles, Clarence and Freeman Roberts. He leaves to cherish his memory sons Doyle (Ruth), Dene (Ellen) Roberts, and daughter Becky (Richard) Beachboard. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Virginia Roberts Andrews, Margaret Roberts and a very dear sister in law Dorothy (Charles) Roberts and brother in law Bob (Francis) Andrews. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves a good buddy, John Yerby, whom he loved like a son. Joe invented several products and was always figuring and thinking about how something worked. He liked to work with radios, shortwave and anything electronic. Joe was the co-founder and former owner of Rocox, Inc. a company that sells solid state flashers, chasers and dimmers for signs and marquees like those in Las Vegas. He professed a faith in Christ and was known as a kind, caring man who loved his family more than anything. He liked car shows, car races, talking about current events, attending fiddlers conventions, old country music, eating catfish and tinkering on Grammies old 62 Buick. The family would like to thank Eastgate Village and Hometown Hospice, Muskogee, who did an amazing job caring for our dad. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
