J.R. McCarter, 79, passed away on January 5, 2017 in Tulsa, OK. He was born on April 20, 1937 to Sampson and Ettie (Kelley) McCarter in Tahlequah, OK. He was a retired baker, having worked many years for Rainbo Bakery. J.R. is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Gloria McCarter; sisters, Geraldine Wolf and Coleta Fuller; two granddaughters, Tosha Newson and Breana McCarter; three great grandchildren, three nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ettie and Sampson; two sons, Wayne Alan McCarter and Jimmy Dean McCarter; and one sister, Maxine Carpenter.
