Obituary

On January 5, 2023, Heaven received a beautiful, squealing, square dancing angel when Judy Todd passed away at the age of 76 after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. She joined other family, friends and dancers who preceded her including her father, Ellsworth Biser in 1965, and her mother June Anita Biser in 2011.

Judy was an only child born in Selma, Alabama on July 3, 1946. Her family moved to Kansas in her elementary years, and she graduated high school in 1964 in Osawatomie, KS. Judy married classmate Gary Filby on October 3, 1965 and they moved to Tulsa, OK and were married until 1978.

Judy leaves behind daughter Michelle Reed and husband Joe, son Travis Filby, son Brian Filby and wife Deanna, as well as grandsons Joshua Filby, Braden Reed, and Ethan Reed. Judy is also survived by her children's father, Gary Filby, his wife and Judy's friend Carol Robinson Filby, best friends and dance/travel partners for over 15 years Ken and Sue McCoy, who she considered the sister she never had, and her second family which includes the square dance community of the Tulsa area as well as surrounding states.

She worked as a secretary at Sheridan Avenue Christian church; as a bookkeeper at Kurtz & Associates, George Daly & Associates, and Pitco for many years; and was most recently working again with George Daly & Associates part-time from home.

Judy loved square dancing and sewing, and merged her talents and passions by making many beautiful dance dresses for herself as well as for others, including annual group festival outfits.

Judy enjoyed traveling and developed a deep passion for the Rocky Mountains after taking several family trips there when her children were young. She had a fondness for Mickey Mouse as a result of her many Disney parks trips with extended family as her grandchildren grew up. In recent years she shared a love of cruising with her daughter on many Mother/Daughter cruises, as well as a few with her sons and even one with all of her grandsons. Judy enjoyed family Colorado jeeping trips with her youngest son, and particularly treasured her special time with both of her sons on their annual Colorado off-road jeeping trips, both for the beautiful scenery and the pampering they showered on her.

Her children will honor her wishes to have her ashes spread by the three of them on the mountains of Colorado at a future date.

Judy will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all of her family, her square dance second family, as well as many friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, 5:00 pm at Memorial Community Center at 8310 E 15th St, Tulsa, OK.
