Karen Ann Piland, Age 78, passed away, Saturday, November 2, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born January 31, 1946 to Leland "Lee" Kordis and Alice (Marrs) in Enid, OK. Karen was the first daughter born to Lee and Alice. She attended Miami High School and graduated with the Class of 1964.

She married Daniel W. Burkhart on August 20, 1965 in Miami, OK and lived abroad for Danny's orders with the US Navy for several years. They returned to the US settling in Pryor, OK. As a homemaker with 3 children, Karen later started her own business known as Kay's Cakes. She continued this successful business for 15years. Proudly, she held several first place blue ribbons for her cake decorating and bread; braid of rye, sourdough and pumpernickel. In addition, her talent as a seamstress was viewed by many in the cast of Oklahoma ~ Discoveryland.

She later married her second husband James Piland on November 20, 1997 in Arkansas. They moved to Collinsville, OK where they enjoyed traveling together trucking across the US for James' job until he retired and later passed October 21, 2017. Karen cherished her church community of Central Baptist Church, Owasso, OK; The Joy Class.

While relocating to Grove, OK in June 2024, she spent her last days living at Grove Nursing Center under the care of Good Shepard Hospice. She enjoyed games, painting, coloring, puzzling, good food and bible study. Karen finished her race strong with her special expression of lovingkindness to every one she met.

Karen is survived by her son, Scott Burkhart (Brande') of Pryor, daughter Lisa Rumer of Pryor, daughter Mechelle Bancroft of Broken Arrow and 6grandchildren, 1great-grandchild, her sister Patti Wimer (Johnie) of Norman and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, sister Dr. Linda Wagner, brothers Leland Kordis, Jr. and Michael H. Kordis.

Private graveside services will be held at Olympus North Cemetery, Grove, OK.
