Kathy (Pfister) Johnson, 87, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away January 3, 2019. She was born March 3, 1931 in Wichita, Kansas to A.J. (Jack) and Edna Pfister. Kathy was a loving mother and grandmother who was quick to laugh and had a way of touching the lives of anyone she met. She was a breast cancer and stroke survivor who made to most of life even though she was confined to a wheelchair the last 22 years of her life. She was a graduate of Will Rogers class of 1949 and a 60 year member of PEO Chapter DX. She enjoyed gatherings with her 49er classmates and PEO sisters up until the time when she was no longer unable to attend. She was a long time member of College Hill Presbyterian Church and for the last 24 years a member of First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa. She cherished her church friends and looked forward to their visits and their coming to serve her home communion. She was a long time resident of University Village Retirement Community where she always kept the staff on their toes. We would say that she may have had a stroke but her mind and tongue are still sharp. She was once crowned "Ms. University Village" and was a contestant in the Ms. Senior Oklahoma Pageant. She truly did appreciate the care and love that was shown to her by the UV staff and fellow residents as did her family. Kathy was a voracious reader devouring several books a week. She was instrumental in establishing a program with the Tulsa City County Library, whereby they would bring library books to her and other residents on a regular basis. Kathy passed comfortably while surrounded by those she loved and who loved her. She was at peace and ready to be with her Lord. It was said that "Kathy is now running victory laps of glory in heaven". She is free from her wheelchair and wearing really cute shoes that she undoubtedly got on sale. It is how we would all script our own transition should the Lord grant us the favor of doing so. She is preceded in death by her Parents, A.J. (Jack) and Edna Pfister; Birth Mother, Tulsa Drew Pfister; Sisters, Patty Parsons and Jeri Hendrickson; Brother, Larry Pfister. Kathy is survived by Daughter, Marilyn and Son-in-Law David Wark; Son, Gary and Daughter-in-Law Cindy Johnson. Grandchildren: Josh Dunham and his wife Jennie; Jamie McMahon and her husband Eric; Tade Johnson and his wife Mary Grace; Garrett Johnson and his fiancee Hillary Yetter; Kathryn Griffith an her husband John. Great-Grandchildren: Christian Dunham, Ryan Dunham, Expectant baby McMahon, Maggie Griffith and Mathew Griffith. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to First Presbyterian Church Tulsa Memorials Fund or PEO Chapter DX in Kathy's name. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 25, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church, Tulsa Oklahoma.
