Kenneth Leslie
Smith
May 30, 1956 – March 30, 2026
Kenneth Leslie Smith, 69, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed from this earth on March 30, 2026. Kenny was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1956 to Myron and Margaret (Kiser) Smith. In 1960, the family moved to Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Kenny enjoyed growing up in a neighborhood full of friends, playing ball and riding bicycles. Known for his musical talents, Kenny excelled at the trumpet throughout junior high and high school. He graduated from Charles Page in 1974.
In 1980, Kenny married Deborah Chailer, and their daughter, Leslie, was born in 1985. Although their union was not meant to be, they remained steadfast in their support of and love for Leslie.
Kenny spent most of his career in the communication and computer technology fields. Notably, Kenny loved his time at United Video Incorporated, where he worked the night shift and referred to himself as, “The Count.” He retired from Cox in 2024.
Pets were always an important part of Kenny’s life. From Frisky and Pretzel in his childhood years, to Max, Squiggles, and Ashes in the latter years – he loved them all. They brought him great joy and endless entertainment.
Kenny was a long-time member of LifeChurch. There, he was thrilled to share his sarcasm and ornery sense of humor with attendees as a member of the host and count teams. Over the years, he also valued the fun and friendships he gained from participating in the martial arts, chess, and umpiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Myron Smith, and brother-in-law, David Wheaton. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie (Smith) Cain and husband, Dave; sister, Marilyn (Smith) Wheaton; and numerous other family members and wonderful friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit and share memories of Kenny’s life on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Cremation Society of Oklahoma, 9120 S. Toledo Ave., Ste. 100, Tulsa, OK 74137.
