Kimberly Tika Matthews Yeager ("Tika") of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed on
Friday, March 11, 2022. She was born in Charleston, South Carolina, April 22, 1971, the loving
daughter of Harry Carroll Matthews, Jr., and Delores R. ("Dee") Matthews.
Tika graduated from Spring Valley High School, Columbia, South Carolina, where she
served as the school mascot and was loved by so many; her friends recently got together to
celebrate and left a quote for her – "To know Tika was to love her." While attending The College
of Charleston, she met Kevin Alan Yeager. They were married May 31, 1998.
She sadly leaves behind her two sons, her truest gifts and greatest loves of her life, Cade
Matthews Yeager, age 22 and Campbell Thomas Yeager, age 20, also of Broken Arrow,
Oklahoma. Nothing was more important to her that these two wonderful young men and great
athletes. During football season, she was known to be their loudest cheerleader and strongest
supporter. Nothing could have prevented her from decorating their lockers or meeting them on
the field at the end of every game. Cade, the quarterback, graduated from Arkansas Tech
University in December 2021, and Campbell, the middle linebacker, is a Sophomore at Tulsa
Community College and plans to transfer to Oklahoma State University this Fall to pursue a
career in Mechanical Engineering. In recent years, the trio would spend many hours watching
movies, going to the casino, playing the machines, taking walks, working out, and going on trips
together. Her love for them was unconditional and the three made a trio that taught us all what
love meant. The support and love these three shared was never-ending. "Life does not come with
a manual; it comes with a Mother." Cade and Campbell had one of the best!
Tika worked as a Senior Analyst for Verizon for twenty-plus years and her co-workers
will miss her smiles and humor.
Tika also leaves behind her Mother, Dee (Nana to the boys), and her brothers, Harry
Carroll ("Trey") Matthews, III (Amy) and Travis LeGrande Matthews, of Beaufort, South
Carolina. She also leaves behind three nephews, Harry Carroll ("Quade") Matthews, IV, Quinn
McKee Matthews, and Nicholas LeGrande Matthews, and two nieces, Reilly Divecchio and
Skylar Bolus. Life for them will not be the same without Aunt Tika, who gave the best hugs
ever. She leaves behind Grams and Papa, grandparents of her boys – Sharon and Arch Yeager,
who blessed her life, spending time with her, and watching sports or playing golf with Cade and
Campbell. We cannot forget her special companion – a Labrador, Aiken Mae, who deeply misses
her, too.
Tika was preceded by her father, and the boys' Papa, Harry Carroll Matthews, Jr., and it
has been a comforting consolation that there is no doubt he greeted her with loving, open arms
when she reached the Gates of Heaven.
Tika, our first born, was a blessing from the start; we will love you forever. We will
never forget your smiles, humor, daily walks with family and friends, the loving kindness you
showed to all, and those amazing hugs you gave.
A Celebration of Life for Tika Yeager will be held in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, as well
as one in Charleston, South Carolina. Time and Dates of these events will be sent in the near
future.
