Obituary

After a hard fought battle with an aggressive cancer, Latina passed peacefully, on Wednesday, January 27th, 2016. By grace, she spent her last days at home with her family and friends. She was comforted by the memories of life well-lived and a promise that her spirit would live on with those she loves. She encouraged her doctors, family and friends to her last breath. Latina was born in Enid, Oklahoma on November 10th, 1949 to Jim Jodie (Joan) Green. Latina's name originates from the day she was born- she was very tiny; so small hand she fit in the palm of her father's hand and wore little doll dresses. She overcame many obstacles in life, never losing her faith. Latina was the beloved sister of Wanda Henry, Jonella Graham, Brenda Daggs and Jimmie Mack Green. She enjoyed time with her extended family including: aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins- all of whom, made her life full. She was the best mother to Emily Sarah. She often said that she and Jon had won the lottery twice and could not wish for more. She loved Chaz and Chaise; they were her bonus sons. She was soul mate, friend and wife to Jon for 35 years. She was devoted to her family. She was what they needed, when they needed it. Latina was a graduate of Central High School, in Tulsa, Okla. Latina was the longtime owner of the Terlton Grocery Store. She invested in her community and led a life of service to others-including serving as city clerk for 10 years; and 16 years sponsoring the annual Fourth of July celebration. She was loved by many. She was a genuine person with kindness inside and those lucky enough to experience her kindness were forever changed. She loved children, bird watching, animals, flowers, fishing and the color green. She liked to cheer on the OKC Thunder and her Oklahoma State Cowboys. She was a gifted in the kitchen- her love filled creations (brownies and chicken and noodles) warmed our stomachs and our hearts. She valued education and encouraged others to better themselves. She saw value in things that others might easily discard. She believed in the goodness of people and the mercy of Jesus Christ. She had the best laugh and smile. She loved the Lord and now she is resting in perfect peace. Her presence in this world will carry on.
