LaVern Smith of Skiatook, Oklahoma passed away on August 4, 2018 surrounded by loved ones in her home. LaVern was a loving, expressive and fun person who adored her family. She had a great sense of humor and an energy that filled a room. LaVern was born in Locust Grove, Oklahoma on May 11, 1942 to Jack Jones and Ora Lavern Jones. She spent her childhood in Sand Springs, Oklahoma surrounded by her large family of four brothers and nine sisters. She attended Charles Page High School and married George Smith in 1960. They were an inseparable, happily married couple. LaVern and George built their house together in Skiatook in 1970 and remained in that home creating years of wonderful memories. LaVern worked as a hair stylist at Dillard�s and local salons in the 1960s. LaVern is survived by her husband George Smith, daughters Cristal Russell of Skiatook and Claudia Butler of Broken Arrow, son-in-laws Eric Russell and Joseph Butler, and grandchildren Jennifer Russell, Jason Russell, George Russell, Mitchell Russell, Cloe Butler and Claire Butler. She is also survived by eight brothers and sisters along with their spouses and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five siblings. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Oklahoma in lieu of flowers. No services are planned at this time.
