On October 9, 1947, Loretta Hill-Ford was born to Noah R. and Lola M. Hill in
Gadsden, AL. At age 7, she was blessed with a second family from Reverend Joseph
and Kathrine Holmes.
In 1965, Loretta married Robert Ford Sr. and from that union five children were
born. Rona R. (Clarence Holt) of Tulsa, OK, Reva R. Bennett-Ford (Joseph
Bennett, Rodney White) of Baton Rouge, LA, Robert R. Ford JR of Tulsa, OK,
Avery A. Ford of Denver, CO and Dayshawn J. Ford (Niesha Ford) of Tulsa, OK.
Loretta gained her nursing degree at Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA
where she worked as a nurse for many years until she moved to Tulsa, OK. While
in Tulsa, she worked at St. Johns hospital until she retired.
She enjoyed teaching her children how to cook, clean and sew. She also enjoyed
making floral arrangements and helping raise her grandchildren. In her spare time,
she also liked traveling and visiting family members. She would often entertain them
with her singing voice.
Loretta leaves behind her mother Lola Mae Smalls of White-Plains, NY, sister
Theresa Foster of Minneapolis, MN, brother Noah Hill JR of Covington, LA, sister
Malake Adbul-Basheer of White-Plains, NY and sister Thelma Holmes-Ford of
New Roads, LA. She also left behind a special brother-in-law that she loved as a
brother A. Alfred Foster of Minneapolis, MN. She left behind her children Rona
(Clarence), Reva (Rodney), Avery, and Dayshawn. Also, her 10 grandchildren
Xavier (Curtis) of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin and Dexter Ford, Jovan and Divine
Bennett, Leo, Cyrus, Celeste Ford and Reginald Taylor of Tulsa, OK and Keshia
Bennett of Gulfport, MS. She also left behind 6 great-grandchildren and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, and two aunts.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ford Sr and son Robert Ford
Jr, her father Noah R. Hill, her second parents Rev. Joseph and Katherine Holmes,
sisters Shirley Rodriguez, Goldie Webb, Eloise Dixon and Olivia Hall, brother
Crosbys Holmes and three sisters-in-laws.
