Lorna Mae (Taggart) Wahlgren, 94, of Owasso, Oklahoma, formerly of Hinckley, IL, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 in Owasso, Oklahoma. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at 10:30am at Faith Lutheran Church in Owasso, OK. Interment will be held at a later date at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hinckley, IL. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Owasso OK for their Capital Improvements or Vacation Bible School program. The daughter of William and Emma (Schmidt) Taggart, Lorna was born May 17, 1927 in Hinckley, Illinois. She grew up and was educated at the Lutheran School in Squaw Grove and Hinckley schools. She was married to Don Wahlgren January 24, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hinckley. To this marriage, they had 3 sons, Wyn, Kent and Bart. After many years working in Hinckley, she moved in 1971 to Osage Beach, MO and worked at Ezard's Grocery Store. She retired in March 1991 and she and Don moved to Claremore, Oklahoma. She was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church. First at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hinckley, then Hope Chapel in Osage Beach, MO, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Claremore OK and Faith Lutheran Church in Owasso, OK. She was active in all facets of the church, including Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), instruction of confirmation classes, vacation bible school, Ladies Aide, Alter Guild, choir, musician, Drive-In Church committee and bible studies. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, Braille Bible Makers, Meals on Wheels, and participated many years in the all Lutheran presentation of The Messiah in Tulsa, OK. She was an avid sports fan. A lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs, she enjoyed going to the games with her father as a child. She also enjoyed the Kansas City Royals, college basketball, horse racing, golf and tennis. She is survived by her sons Wyn Wahlgren, Fort Meyers Beach, FL; Kent (Jo) Wahlgren, Owasso, OK; and Bart (Linda) Wahlgren, Lee's Summit, MO. Three granddaughters, Nicole (Kevin) Scharlau, Kansas City, MO, Amy Wahlgren, Raytown, MO, and Kim (Nick) Gabrielli, Lee's Summit, MO. Three grandsons, Aaron (Tracy) Wahlgren of Plano, IL, Carl (Mary) Wahlgren, Green Cove Springs, FL and Kirk (Molly) Wahlgren, Owasso, OK. Also, two great-grandsons, Wesley (Chance) Munroe of Denver, CO and Roarke Wahlgren, Owasso, OK. Along with two sisters-in-law, Carol Wahlgren, Clarendon Hills, IL and Kayla Ford of Waterman, IL., many nieces and nephews and her good buddies Betty Merli of Osage Beach, MO and Florence Rempfer, Owasso, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, husband, Don; and daughter-in-law, Jan Wahlgren.
