Obituary

Margaret Gayle Young was born November 30, 1948, in Caney, Kansas to Margaret Lucille and Lorenzo Dee Leffingwell. Gayle (as she wanted to be known by) gained her Heavenly wings on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026.

Gayle attended school in Neodesha, Kansas until she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she got her Oklahoma Cosmetology License and was a beautician in her own beauty shop out of her home in Dewey, Oklahoma for many years.

She later moved to Wagoner, with her Daughter and Son, where she obtained an Oklahoma Insurance Producer license and worked for American General and National Life Insurance companies until health conditions disabled her from working.

In Gayle’s life, she enjoyed camping with, being with, and talking with, her longtime friend of 70 yrs & their kids, visiting Eureka Springs, and talking with God, and reading God’s word. Her music of choice was 70’s, Symphony, and Gospel, which she would listen to quite frequently. Her daily delight was when the workers and friends of her residence at The Highlands of Owasso would come by her room to sit in her comfortable reclining chair to talk, laugh, and share smiles, which would include the Nurses, Assistants, Administrator, Director of Nursing, and even the Owner would visit.

She was a loving Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend who loved every moment with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gayle is survived by her Daughter, Tiffany Michele Young of Mohave Valley, Arizona; her Son and Daughter-in-Law, Donald Lee Young Jr. & Kimberly Young of Collinsville Oklahoma and her stepson, Timothy Ray Young of Tulsa Oklahoma; Older brother and his wife, Larry & Janet Leffingwell of New Mexico, along with her grandchildren Brooklyn Walker, Brittany & April Walker, Katelyn Webb, Gannon Young, Adam Young, Gabriel Young and Emily Young. She has great grandchildren: Kahlan Webb, Julie Ford, Cheyenne Ford, Kelsey Ford as well as 2 great great grands and many nieces and nephews.

Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, half-sister and husband, Gleta and Stanley Elmore, and “like family to her”, Patricia “Pat” Hopper, and Pat’s sons, Jerry Hopper and Mike Leffingwell.

Heaven welcomed her home. Gayle will be missed by all who had the opportunity to hear her laugh; see her smile and watch her with her loved ones.
