Marjorie Jean Bottenfield Porter passed away peacefully on November 21, 2015 at the age of 89. She was born in Webb City, Missouri, and went to Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She and her parents moved to Tulsa in 1943. She attended Tulsa University where she met and married Jack Porter. During Marjorie's Stephens College years she earned her pilot license. She flew from Columbia, Missouri back home and to other places, often flying in an open air cockpit plane. As she grew older she retained her love of flying which included hot air balloons and glider planes. While at Tulsa University she participated in a student exchange and studied in Mexico City. Her love of travel started at that early age. Marjorie was the ideal wife and mother of four children for the first half of her life. In the second half, she traveled the world to attend many spiritual conferences. Along the way she met and impacted the lives of famous and not so famous people all of whom traveled the same spiritual path she had chosen. On one such trip she heard and embraced a mantra by John O'Donohue: "May the light of your soul mind you. May all of your worry and anxiousness about growing old be transformed. May you be given the wisdom with the eye of your soul to see that this can be a beautiful time of harvesting. May you have the commitment to harvest your life to heal what has hurt you, and to allow it to come closer to you. May you have great dignity. May you have a sense of how free you are and above all, May you be given the wonderful gift of meeting the eternal light that is within you. May you be blessed, and May you find a wonderful love in yourself, for yourself." She was a spiritual teacher and healer for many people in the Tulsa area. She also worked with hospice care and nursing home patients. Throughout her life, Marjorie was a teacher by spoken word and more importantly by how she lived. Her joy for life, learning, and adventure is something that those who knew her enjoyed and admired. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Donald Porter Sr., her son Jack Donald Porter Jr., her brother Warren Bottenfield, and her parents, Hiram Sanford Bottenfield and Mable Owen Bottenfield. Marjorie is survived by her children Patty Porter, Paul Porter, and Nancy McCormick and her husband Jay McCormick, granddaughter Alice Edwards and her husband Carlous Edwards, granddaughter Krista Clark and her husband Jon Clark, and four great grandchildren, Kiara, Oliver, Emery and Eleanor.
