Obituary

Mary Karen Camp, 61 years of age of Tulsa, OK, left this life on September 30, 2020 at 5:45 a.m. CDT after battling liver disease. Karen was born in Midland, TX on July 6, 1959. She now joins her loving husband and navy veteran, Forrest William Camp, who preceded her in death on September 12, 2014. They are now joined in forever love. Karen is survived by her three sisters and their spouses – Debbie (CD) Richards, Gwen (Ken) Mitchell, Pamela (Michael) Cole, Debbie's children and grandchildren - Tony Cooper, Courtney (Zandrew) Bonner, River Richards, Justice Dodson, Zachary, Jeramiah and Cierra Cooper and Pamela's children-Danielle, Austin and Hayden Longueville, She is preceded in death by her loving mother Mary Smith, grandmother Velma Martin, uncle and aunt Tommy and Jean Flynt and great grandmother Elizabeth Baker. Karen graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School in 1978 and from Cosmetology College. She was a hair designer and esthetician living in Tulsa, Monterey Bay, Denver, New York City, Germany and Dallas, before returning home to Tulsa. For a short time she was a comedian and writer with the comedy group Uptown Express. She was an entrepreneur who had several businesses during her life. She and her beloved husband, Forrest, owned and operated two of Tulsa's favorite restaurant spots - Ella's Deli and Ella's Restaurant. She recently was the owner of Pure Bliss, an Alternative Healing Center in Tulsa, where she practiced sound healing and reiki and served as an intuitive empath. She was also the office manager and then personal manager and caretaker for Tulsa physician, Dr. Paul April, who also preceded her in death. Karen and Forrest were strong spiritualists and founding members of the Center of Light congregation in Tulsa. They also loved their dogs, Ella, Bufford and Satchmo who all preceded her in death. Karen will be remembered as a person of open thought and a lifetime supporter of diversity and inclusion. May she rest in peace, love and light. A private service, officiated by Karen and Forrest's loving friend, Rev.
