IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nora Lu
Erwin
November 26, 1932 – April 24, 2024
Nora Lucinda (Huff) Erwin passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at age 91. Nora was born on November 26, 1932, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Roy McKinley Huff and Rubena M. Huff. She graduated in the Nifty Fifty class of Central High School, and attended the University of Tulsa, where she pledged Kappa Alpha Theta. As a child, Nora started her long career as a pianist by playing by ear the tunes that she heard her big brother's band play at home. She soon began the study of classical music and performed many recitals, including those for Piano Study Club and Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity. She also taught piano in her home to children and adults. Nora eventually expanded her repertoire to play improvisational dinner music and was a favorite performer in the lobby bar of the Downtown DoubleTree Hotel for many years. She absolutely loved playing private parties at Christmas.
When Nora became a member of the Parish of Christ the King, she joined the ladies in the Quilter's Guild, crocheting blankets and hats for newborn babies. They helped Nora with her projects and when she was unable to attend the meetings, they visited her at home, bringing her much joy. Nora was very much blessed with her caregivers; Erlina, Kathy, Margene and Priscilla. It was due to their loving hours of friendship and companionship that Nora was able to stay in her home for so many years until she entered hospice and moved to a memory care home. Nora received excellent and compassionate care during the last weeks of her life from Traditions Hospice and Oxford Springs Memory Care, with her daughter and home caregivers remaining at her side.
Nora was predeceased by her brother, R. Robert Huff. She is survived by her daughter, Hilda Harlton of Tulsa; her stepsons, Stan Erwin and Kenton Erwin of Washington and their families; and nieces, Bev Blair of San Antonio and Hari Huff of Sante Fe.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Marquette R.I.S.E. Program, 1519 S Quincy Ave, Tulsa, OK 74120 providing children with special needs the opportunity for education in their home parish school, or a charity providing food and services to those in need.
