Obituary

Pete was born in Modesto, CA, as the first of two children to Francois Chevrier and Trena Vander Plaats Chevrier. The family moved to nearby Oakdale where Pete graduated high school. After serving in the Army, he used the G.I. Bill to attend San Francisco City College where he studied Business Administration. While at City College he met his lifelong friend and love of his life, Norma Jean Moebes. They wed on July 3, 1952, and were married for almost 70 years. Pete worked in various sales positions for Carnation Fresh Milk and Ice Cream in the Bay Area. In 1959, they had their only son, Randy Chevrier, and lived in South San Francisco until 1969 when Pete was transferred with Carnation to Tulsa, OK.

Beginning in 1974, through a series of events only God could orchestrate, Pete and his family were led to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. Pete and Norma served as youth group sponsors at New Haven Methodist Church, and in 1976, they started the family business, Paintmaster Collision Center, which stayed in the family until it was sold in 2022. In 1988, Pete and Norma helped as founding members of Redeemer Covenant Church, where they were longtime members of the Solid Rock Sunday school class, the Cornerstone class, and their small home group. Pete was also active in Bible studies and various church operational committees.

To his family, Pete was best known as Booboo, a name that began with his first granddaughter and stuck through the years. Pete loved being Booboo to his granddaughters and embraced every opportunity to spend time with them, from overnight visits, to taking them out to eat, to trips to Silver Dollar City. Pete was also a passionate hunter and fisherman; he owned land in Dustin, OK, dubbed "Booboo's Paradise," where he loved to bring his family and friends to ride four-wheelers, hunt and fish. Pete loved telling jokes and laughing with others. But no matter where he was, he never missed the chance to tell everyone how blessed he was with the family God had given to Norma and him. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Chevrier, and is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Kelley Chevrier, his five granddaughters and their spouses; Brooke and George Young, Britney and Jason Burch, Erin McWilliams, Katie and Adam Osmon, Amy and Nick Spriggs; eight great grandchildren with two more on the way.

A memorial service to celebrate Pete's life will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Redeemer Covenant Church in Tulsa, OK.
