Ralph Miles Hunter Jr. was born in Enid, Ok, November 2, 1928 to Ralph Miles Hunter Sr. and Orena Mae (Gee) Hunter. Ralph grew up in Enid, Ok and Oklahoma City, OK. After serving in WWII, while attending Spartan School of Aeronautics he met the love of his life, Sally Louise McCray. Upon returning from the Korean Conflict, honorably discharged from the USMC, Ralph and Sally were married in St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK. Ralph had a varied and fulfilling career from being a fireman in Oklahoma City for several years, teaching high school shop in Oklahoma City then moving to Lawton Oklahoma to teach at Cameron College, multiple years working for the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation in both Oklahoma and Wyoming then as the Vocational Dean at Lamar Community College and completing his educator career at Colorado State University. Ralph earned his BA from Central State College in 1958 and his Masters from OSU in 1963. Ralph loved to fish, and hunt however his greatest passion was aviation. After earning his private pilots license at the age of 16 he continued his aviation hobby and went on the earn his commercial pilots license as well as several certifications for airframe and power-plant maintenance and repair as well as his inspectors license. Ralph owned and rebuilt many antique aircraft as well as building two Steen Skybolt aerobatic biplanes. As much as Ralph enjoyed working on his airplanes it was the act of flight that he enjoyed the most; man, machine and the sky. Above all else, Ralph had a deep faith in God and loved his family with all of his heart and soul. Ever the teacher, he willingly shared life's lessons with all.
