Richard Charles Grimm passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 after a long and well-traveled life. He was 82 years young. Known as Dick, he had been married for 55 years to the love of his life, Barbara Jane Grimm, and had been a resident of the Tulsa area for 37 years. Born and raised in Indianapolis, Dick graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in engineering. He designed rockets as an aerospace engineer during the first part of his career. Later, he worked on several fascinating projects, such as creating dry suits for the builders of the Alaska pipeline and ocean-mapping technology for the Navy. He lived in many places during his life on both coasts and in the middle of the country. A feisty personality, Dick was known for his dry wit, as well as a kind and caring nature. Dick liked to travel and visited most of the 50 states, Mexico and Asia during his life usually with Barbara as his traveling companion. In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his daughter, Vanessa Roberts, and her husband, Jeff Roberts; son, Chuck Grimm, and his wife, Angeline Goh; and his grandson, Sean Roberts, and granddaughter, Ryan Roberts who all loved him and will miss him deeply as he travels his next path. The family plans to hold a private memorial this summer. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Dick's name to one of his favorite community charities, the John 3:16 Mission, which provides services to the poor, hungry and homeless around Tulsa.
