Richard Lee "Dick" Harmon, 85, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on October 13, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 1, 2025, at St. James Presbyterian Church, 11970 S Elm St., Jenks, OK 74037.
Dick was born on August 17, 1940, in Drumright, Oklahoma, to Horace William and Mayme Elizabeth Harmon. He began school in Drumright, where he attended through sixth grade, then moved to Wewoka, where he completed grades six through nine, before finishing high school in Bristow. A standout athlete, Dick was an all-State basketball player and a proud Oklahoman through and through. Richard attended Murray State College and Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
He began his career as a park ranger before joining Public Service Company of Oklahoma, where he worked for many years. In his later years, he found joy driving a school bus for Jenks Public Schools, where he was known for his friendly spirit and the care he showed to the children he met each day.
Dick lived a life full of curiosity, kindness, and connection. He cherished the outdoors-especially fishing trips and his many annual pheasant hunts with friends - and loved traveling with his wife to new destinations, where he never met a stranger. A lifelong learner, her loved to read and explore new ideas, and he especially treasured time spent visiting with his sons and catching up with his granddaughter. A devoted Oklahoma City Thunder fan and former Boy Scout, he carried his love of adventure and good company throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy Harmon; his sons, David Harmon and Chris Harmon, daughter-in-law, Jennifer Harmon; and his cherished granddaughter, Jordan Harmon.
Dick will be remembered for his gentle humor, generous heart, and genuine interest in everyone he met. His warmth, curiosity, and kindness left an enduring mark on all who knew him.
