Richard "Rick" David Munn, longtime resident of Stillwater, OK and Sand Springs, OK, passed
away peacefully and surrounded by his family, friends, loved ones and his dog Ladybug at his
home in Stillwater on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at the young age of 62. Almost five weeks before
his passing Rick had been diagnosed with lung cancer, that had metastasized throughout his
body.
Rick Munn was born in Kansas City, MO, to Dr. Richard F. Munn and Neva Sue Munn
while his Dad was going through medical school, and his mom was a 2nd grade elementary
school teacher. Rick retired from CareerTech, Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology
Education in Stillwater, Oklahoma where he was employed as a Mechanical Contractor
specializing in large heat and air equipment, boilers and air handlers. He was an expert at HVAC
and he always cared that the work was done properly, was organized, meticulous and could fix
or repair anything. He was also a computer wiz and could help anyone by fixing or problem
solve how to fix any computer issues no matter how large or small.
Rick was a high school graduate of Charles Page High School in 1977, and has been a
Stillwater, OK resident for over 45 years where he enjoyed spending time with his family and
many friends and was an avid lover of dogs. Rick loved tractors and was especially proud of his
Kubota and more recently his new John Deere tractor. Rick enjoyed cooking, grilling, smoking
and deep frying…he was a great cook! He made the best fried turkeys for Thanksgiving for his
family and would have bales of hay on his trailer/tractor for his nieces and nephew to enjoy
hayrides for the whole family, complete with singing, go-karting, motorcycling, RC cars, tire
swings. Going to Uncle Rick's farm was always the best and will hold some of Rick's family's and
friend's most cherished memories of him for hosting Thanksgiving, summer vacation, many
Oklahoma State University college and sporting events, and even Crawfish boils where Rick had
crawfish flown in from Louisiana and had his beloved Zydeco music playing. Rick especially
loved all kinds of music which he shared with his nieces and nephews regularly and loved
explaining various genres and the history of music. When Rick was young, he started a hobby
that continued throughout his entire life which was being a ham radio enthusiast and was able
to speak to people all over the world.
Rick is survived by his sister, Allyson Munn Cox and her husband Packer Cox of Keller, TX and
sister, Brooks Munn Cain and her husband Chris Cain of Wichita Falls, TX, 4 nieces and nephew
Joey Cox, Katie Cain, Sydney Cain Smith, Jenny Cox and Abbie Cain Warner, and many cousins
