Obituary

Richard T. Spohrer, 84, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025. Born on August 19, 1940, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Ralph and Freda (Talley) Spohrer, Richard lived a life filled with adventure, generosity, and a deep sense of humanity.

A man more spiritual than religious, Richard lived by a simple yet powerful philosophy: treat others the way you would want to be treated. He was known for his kindness and empathy, particularly when it came to those in service. He often overtipped at restaurants, believing that a small gesture could make a big difference in someone's life, especially when they were facing challenges. "You never know what the waitress is going through," he would say, always aiming to help others when he could.

Richard's life took him to many places, including Enid, Tulsa, and Miami, as well as St. George Island, Florida, Boston, Massachusetts, and Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He embraced the diversity of each location, finding new experiences and friendships along the way.

He earned an associate's degree in business and built a diverse career, excelling in sales, entrepreneurship, and as a USDA-licensed exotic animal handler, specializing in capuchin monkeys. His interests were as varied as his travels, including archery, metal detecting, treasure hunting, natural health, and business. Richard had a deep passion for adventure and was always seeking new ways to explore the world, whether through hiking, fishing, or dancing. His love of fun extended to cooking, gardening, magic tricks, and even a good prank or two, always bringing laughter wherever he went.

Richard leaves behind countless friends and family who will remember him for his zest for life, his adventurous spirit, and his boundless generosity. He was a man who loved to laugh, who never shied away from a good time, and who lived life to the fullest.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will come together to share stories, laughter, and memories of a life well-lived.
