Richard James Wise, Sr. passed away in the early hours of December 7, 2021, at the age of 80, due to complications caused by a chronic medical condition. Richard, also known as Dick by close friends and family was born on August 17, 1941, in Indianapolis Indiana to Myrtle Hodge. Richard had a huge heart and would go out of his way to help anyone who needed it. He was a retired Army veteran who took great pride in his service to our country, but one of his greatest accomplishments was being a father. He loved his children and family with all his heart. Richard loved spending time with his family in any way he could. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, bowling, or just being plain ornery. He enjoyed western movies and anything with John Wayne in it. One of his favorite sayings was "Do as I say, not as I do". Richard loved to tell funny jokes and stories. His laugh was infectious. When he laughed, you couldn't help but laugh along with him. Richard was a strong, but gentle man, and gave the best daddy hugs ever. He always greeted his family with a huge smile and open arms. Richard is survived by the love of his life, his wife Rita Lou Wise. Richard is a father to eight children: Franklin D Wise, Linda Sue Russell, Helen Lorina Good, William Loyd Wise, Eva Sue Giangreco, Richard James Wise Jr., Rita Jeanette Funston, and Michael William Wise. He is grandpa to 22 grandchildren: Debra Sue Havice, Annastacia Renea Hodnett, Randi Nicole Giangreco, Hunter Wise, Joshua Wise, Megan Marie Arnold, Jacqlyn Taylor Tatum, Shaquan Milik Arnold, Aysia Deshae Johnson, Ashlyn Neveah Wise, Mason Isaac Wise, Austin Nelson Wise, Jeremiah Jason Malalchi Nelson Wise, Isabella Wise, Antoney Wise, Keean Wise, Neveah Wise, Amanda Lorina Cartwright, Nickolas Rodney Morgan, Sandi Lynn Earl, Jessica Lynn Hamilton, and Wayne Joseph Russell. Richard also has 18 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Richard will be held at Butler-Stumpff & Dyer Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Tulsa on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 10:00 am.
