Obituary

Robert Hunter Adams, 73, passed away on April 28, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on July 21, 1951, to John and Joan Adams, Rob lived a life filled with love, learning, and laughter.

Rob worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family, dedicating himself fully to every chapter of his career. His work took him to many different parts of the country, and he embraced the unique spirit of each place he called home—whether it was admiring the rugged beauty of the Wyoming mountains or enjoying the coastal charm of North Carolina's beaches.

A lifelong lover of history and a passionate reader, Rob had a brilliant intellect and a quick wit. He was the kind of person who was always quick with humor and insight, and he never missed a chance to share his knowledge—especially when it came to world history, politics, or a great story. He was actively involved in local politics through volunteer work and deeply valued civic engagement.

Rob had a great love for a wide range of culture and entertainment, from Beethoven to the Beatles, Monty Python, science fiction, and any film or show that sparked the imagination. Museums were his happy place, and he visited them wherever he traveled. He cherished traveling with his wife and family, with particularly special memories made during trips to Europe and, most recently, a return to his Louisiana roots where he revisited meaningful places from his past.

Rob is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy Adams; his son, Jason Adams, his daughter, Juliet Capeheart, and her husband, Philip; and his grandsons, Owen, Jack, Ethan, and Kayden Rodgers, who were the joy of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nancy.

He found great happiness in time spent with his grandsons—watching them play sports, teaching them chess, and playing card and board games. He will be remembered not only as the smartest and wittiest person in any room, but also as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who gave generously of his time, attention, and heart.

A celebration of Rob's life will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to nonprofits or other organizations benefiting children, animals or the underprivileged—causes Rob believed in and supported throughout his life.
