Obituary

Roger C. Clark, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at 94 yrs. young. He was born on November 19, 1930, in Tulsa to James R. Johnston and Helen Rogers Johnston. Roger graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1949 as part of the proud "'49ers" class. He was not only Senior Class President, but also a standout athlete, playing on the undefeated 1948 Brave football team and the state championship tennis team. His senior year was especially memorable, as he captured both the Oklahoma State high school singles and doubles tennis championship titles. His love of tennis carried him to the University of Oklahoma on a tennis scholarship, where he won Big 7 Conference championships in both singles and doubles, earned three varsity letters, and built lifelong friendships as a member of Beta Theta Pi. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration before entering the U.S. Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. While serving in the Air Force, Roger married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Pritchard of Oklahoma City, on May 8, 1954. The two had met at OU, where Joyce quickly stole his heart. Together they began their married life in service, living in Malden, Missouri, and later in Laredo and Fort Worth, Texas. After his service in the Air Force, Roger began a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry. His work first took him to Lake Charles, LA, where he worked as a drilling mud engineer for Baroid, and later back to Tulsa, where he became vice president of Wilson Industries. In 1961, he helped form Pipeco Services, a company supplying casing and tubing for oilfield drilling operations. In retirement, Roger served his community by volunteering with Meals on Wheels. Roger loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved God, his family, dogs and his many friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and passed on his love of the Colorado mountains to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed snow skiing, hiking and backpacking, tennis, and OU football. He never met a stranger, always treating others like they were friends. He was quick-witted and gave 100% to everything he did.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother and best friend, Charles Phillip Clark. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Joyce; their three children - Roger, Jr. (Lorna), Steve, and their daughter, his "brown-eyed girl," Kelly; three grandchildren, Teak Hull (Tanner), Temple Hull, and Seth Clark; three great-grandchildren, Kaiser Clark, Trip Hull, and Tippi Glover; and his faithful dog, Bosie. The Clark family would like to express their gratitude to Bright Heart Hospice and in particular, Karie Danley, Hospice nurse for the compassionate, kind, and comforting care given to Roger and our family.
