Obituary

Roger Nile Kinkade Sr, age 82, of Kellyville, Oklahoma, died Thursday May 8 th 2014 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Roger was born in Iowa on July 22, 1931. He was raised on a farm outside of Milford, Iowa. Roger joined the Marines at a young age and was awarded the Purple Heart for getting wounded during combat in the Korean War. He served as a drill sergeant before being honorably discharged. He then returned to Iowa to work and raise a family. As he got older and moved to Oklahoma, he became active in the Marine Corp League and the Chosin Few Organizations and always enjoyed the time spent with the members. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, farming and spending time with his family. His parents, three sisters, and two sons preceded him in death. He is survived by daughter Shelly Boone and her husband, Harlan, of Iowa, daughter Kathi Duerr and her husband, Gerald, of Minnesota, daughter Dawn Kinkade of Iowa, daughter Cherrie White and husband, Dave, of Iowa, daughter Verna Bosma and husband, Clint, of Iowa, and son Roger (Rick) Kinkade Jr and wife Kristi of Sapulpa, OK. 16 Grandkids and 9 Great Grandkids. He is also survived by one sister, Pat Billings and husband Don of California and one brother Harold Kinkade and wife Mabel of Iowa and many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Services will be at Anglican Church of the Resurrection in Glenpool, OK on Saturday May 17 th 2014 at 2:00 pm.
