Ronald Lee "Rusty"
Edmison
May 28, 1938 – April 25, 2026
Ronald Lee “Rusty” Edmison, 88, passed away peacefully at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Ok on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 7:01 pm, with his son Randy & daughter-in-law Tracy by his side.
Ronald was born on May 28, 1938, to Buck and Margaret Edmison in Los Angeles, California. He was the youngest of 4 children, and the only boy. His dad gave him the nickname Rusty at a very young age, and it stuck with him for life. After the passing of his father, Rusty moved with the rest of his family to Oklahoma in 1972. He worked at Reda Pump and then at Central Middle School. He retired from the Bartlesville school system in 2000. He made friends with many of the kids and teachers throughout the years and enjoyed running into them and ‘catching up’ whenever he saw them in town. After retirement, Rusty moved to Sunset Lake, where he was caretaker from 2002 to 2007. He was loved by the small community, and he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand, drink a beer, and put his two cents' worth in, whether it was asked for or not. Rusty moved to Ochelata in 2010, where he resided with his beloved best friend, his dog Blaze, until his passing.
Rusty loved anything horses! Especially Pulling Horses. He was in many competitions over the years and was well known in the pulling horses circle. More often than not, he would be accompanied by his big sister Bonnie and their good friend, John Ryan.
Rusty loved to sit and shoot the bull with anyone who’d listen, and he made many good friends over the years doing just that! He was a great pool player and also liked kickboxing. He enjoyed going to local kickboxing matches to watch some of the kids he had known from Central. He loved taking care of his yard, and it always had to be just perfect. He said, “It looks good, and the smell of fresh-cut grass is the best”. You could even catch him mowing when it wasn’t needed, and we’re guessing it was so he could smell that smell he loved so much. He was an avid OU fan and always rooted for the Indianapolis Colts! He was always tinkering with something.
Rusty was always a wiseguy and could be counted on to have a joke or a smart-aleck comment. If he picked on you or gave you a hard time, you knew you were one of his people, and he was doing good. Rusty loved his family and was always there to help, or more importantly, be the ‘supervisor’ of whatever was going on. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Ronald is survived by his wife, June, who resides in Michigan. His son, Gary Lee Edmison of Las Vegas, Nevada, his son Randy Lee Edmison, and his wife, Tracy of Ochelata, OK. Four grandchildren, Dalton of Las Vegas, NV, Devin, Ace, and Toni LeeAnn, all of Bartlesville, OK. Five great-grandchildren, Paisley, Trayden, Duncan, Asher, and Daniella. Also, by one of his closest friends, Mary Hough (Tracy’s mom), who has been there with him through everything for the last 31 years. And his beloved dog, Blaze, will remain with the family. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck & Margaret Edmison, his sisters Donna Morrison, Bonnie McClintock, and Francis Remington.
Rusty was a one-of-a-kind person. If you ever met him, you’d never forget him! He will be truly and deeply missed by all, especially his family and close friends, who loved that old fart!
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Rusty to The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Ok.
A private family dinner & celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
