Ronald Duane Jeffris

Jeffris - Ronald D., 88, died June 12. 2024 in Tulsa. Ron was born August 30, 1937 in Moultrie County, IL to Orval and Ola Jeffris and married Myra M.

Edmonds on July 4, 1963. He attended Sullivan, IL high school, graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1959 and received a master's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois in 1961. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1962. He began his accounting career with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago and then worked for National Distillers & Chemical Corp. in Danville, IL and Northern Illinois Gas Company in Naperville, IL. Ron joined Tulsa-based Williams in 1973 and retired in 1993, having served as Assistant Controller, Controller, and Vice President - Controller (Chief Accounting Officer. From 1991 to 2012, he served as Treasurer of TSHA, Inc., a United Way agency serving persons with hearing loss. In 2002 the School of Business of Eastern Illinois University selected him Distinguished Business Alumnus of the year. In 2007 the Eastern Illinois University Foundation named Ron and Myra Outstanding Philanthropists of the Year. Ron was active in the Tulsa Folk Music Society for many years and was a member of several gardening organizations. Ron and Myra established endowed scholarships at Eastern Illinois University (in business and music), the University of Illinois (in accounting), Tulsa Community College (in nursing) and Oklahoma State University (in accounting). He is survived by his wife. No memorial service is planned.
