Obituary

Sharon (Corley) Wallace passed away on January 27, 2019, at the age of 69. Sharon was born in Paris, Arkansas, on November 2, 1949, to John and Blanche Corley. She grew up in Coweta, Oklahoma, and attended Coweta High School where she was the salutatorian of the Class of 1968. She earned her Bachelor of Education from Northeastern State University in 1972. Following graduation, she married Larry Wallace, and the couple moved to Mannford, Oklahoma. Starting her career at Mannford High School as a senior English teacher, she eventually became the full-time librarian. Sharon was an integral part of the school, serving as various class sponsors, National Honor Society advisor and primary grant writer for the school. She had a positive impact on many students and guided numerous beginning teachers during her career. She planned the rebuilding of the school media center after the 1984 tornado and marched on the steps of the capitol for education reform in 1990. Retiring from Mannford Public Schools in 1999, Sharon left a love of learning and curiosity as her legacy. She loved to travel, read, draw and go antiquing with her friends. Her mantra was, "We can always find a place for it." She especially loved spending time with friends in rustic cabins in the woods. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ken Corley. She is survived by her husband, Larry Wallace, sister Charlotte Weir (Bob) of Claremore, OK, brother(s) Bruce Corley (Linda) of Ft. Worth, TX, Larry Corley (Carol) of Fort Gibson, OK, and Bill Corley (Donna) of Conroe, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her commune of friends who love her dearly.
