Obituary

Shirley May (Churchill) Waltman passed away in death Friday, August 25, 2023, with her husband at her side in their home in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Shirley fought hard against mankind's enemy death, but it still took her. Shirley had unwavering faith in Jesus promise at John 5:28, 29 that one day soon she would be resurrected back to life on earth and see the fulfillment of Matthew 6:9, 10 where Jesus taught his followers to pray for God's Kingdom to come and his will to be to done on earth as in heaven.

Shirley along with her husband shared their faith and hope in that future promise for years with many in the surrounding area. Shirley dedicated her life to doing the will of her God, Jehovah, and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses July 5, 1968.

Shirley was born to Lester Ray Churchill and Nancy Brazilia Ann (Cunningham) Churchill on May 30, 1944, in Okmulgee.

Shirley was married to her husband James Waltman on September 19, 1961. To this union was born three children, Kevin, Sherry and Michelle. Sherry preceded her mother in death, along with her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Over the years, Shirley worked in the health care field, including being a provider for a number of family members and many other people. In addition, she and her husband spent many years working as a part of the Local Design Committee of Jehovah's Witnesses, which is responsible for the constructing and renovating Kingdom Halls, places of worship for her God Jehovah. They also participated in disaster relief work in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina.

Shirley worked alongside her husband in the door-to-door ministry, sharing her Bible hope with others. Even as she waned, she still asked: "Are we are going in the door-to-door ministry today?"

Shirley also enjoyed camping and spending time with friends and enjoying nature.

Shirley is survived by her husband James of the home; son Kevin Waltman, wife Trina and their children; Michelle and husband Jason Likens of Shawnee, and their children; and the children, grandchildren and step-children of the their late daughter Sherry; a sister, Twila Langley and husband Jerry of Wichita, Kansas, and their family; along with a host of other relatives, extended family and friends.
