Steven "Steve" Lewis Davis signed off from this life on July 7th, 2022, after making the most of what he called "QTL" or Quality Time Left. Steve was born September 27, 1956 to parents Bilbo and Dorothy (Lewis) Davis. Steve grew up as an only child, but this only aided in his mischief. Steve was also born with the gift of gab, which made him an excellent salesperson for Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages for 28 years. It's been said he had the ability to make anyone feel like a friend, and yet he could talk the legs off a donkey and sell them back to him. He will be remembered for his piercing blue eyes, playful sense of humor, and managing to sweet talk the girls in high school to picking out his stunning curly locks.
Steve started working at an early age and had various jobs his entire life, including working for OKC Parks and Recreation Department, as a bat boy for OKC 89ers minor baseball league (now the OKC Dodgers), as a shoe salesman, and at his dormitory front desk, among many others. However, he took greatest pride in his first job out of college, fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He survived many escapades in Northwest Classen High School, including repeated trips to the principal's office, but despite that, the administration admired his desire and drive to succeed in anything he did, ranging from football, to yearbook and newspaper.
The shenanigans never stopped coming. From exploding his parent's kitchen to surviving the wrath of his father when he discovered Steve's VW Bus had disappeared because it was "getting custom curtains made," (when it was really at the repair shop after a wreck), you just never knew what antics were next.
Undoubtedly, the biggest joy in his life was the addition of his three kids. He was always active as a father, coaching softball teams, throwing the best birthday parties, and even dressing as a turtle by using the lid from a Little Tykes turtle sandbox as his shell, to compete as a turtle in a turtle race at school.
Steve died knowing 70's music is by far superior, military movies are undeniably the best, and chicks dig a snazzy red Oldsmobile Cutlass.
His regrets were few, but included eating fast food late at night with no Tums on hand, not training his faithful dog Jake to detect cancer, not knowing he should turn off the gas when he disconnected that stove, and being a devoted, yet perpetually let down, Dallas Cowboys fan.
Steve was always good at showing gratitude, being kind, and encouraging others. Always a fierce prayer warrior, he even had a habit of waking in the night to pray for his loved ones. He found great joy in ministering to whom he delivered Meals on Wheels. He is survived by his daughter Courtney Allen and husband Chris, daughter Marcie Davis and grand-dog Archie, son Ryan Davis and wife Lisa. He also left behind six beautiful grandchildren: Camden, Caysen, Madison, Samantha, Natalie, and Paxton.
Despite a shorter than average life span, his life was anything but average. Please join the family in celebrating Steve's eventful life on Saturday, July 16th at 10am at Life.Church in Broken Arrow. Address: 2420 E Kenosha Street, Broken Arrow, OK 74014.
To further Steve's passion for ministry, memorial contributions can be made to Life.Church or Meals on Wheels Tulsa.
