Susan Elizabeth Niemeyer, 86, of Tulsa passed away February 27, 2017. Sue was born on July 9, 1930 in Detroit, MI to the late Dr. Louis Paul and Lillyan (Liddell) Sonda. Growing up in the shadow of Marygrove College, Sue met the love of her life, Donald Edward Niemeyer. Long-timADUWEIHx21e1255dazswa###e neighborhood friends, they were married in 1950 in Detroit. In 1962 they settled in Tulsa to raise their four children. Sue's days were filled with showering her family with love through her cooking, mending hurt knees, shuttling her kids to Scouts and lessons, helping them with homework, and welcoming her husband home in the evening. In her middle years, Sue worked at the Sears hearing aid center and later in accounting. As a retiree, Sue knitted hats, scarves, and booties for charity organizations, was active in aerobics class and mall walking, and enjoyed playing cards with friends. A season ticket holder to the Tulsa Drillers Baseball games, Sue was as at home in the ball park as at the Tulsa Symphony or the opera and Broadway shows. Her down-to-earth common sense, unflagging dry British wit, and strong faith will be sorely missed. Sue is survived by her brother Rick (MaryEllen) Sonda; daughter Barby (Will) Barbara, son Don (Kathy) Niemeyer, Jr., son Jim Niemeyer; grandchildren Kisha Henshaw, Raymond Henshaw, Julie (Mason) Bennett, Adriane (Ryan) Redinger, Carl Barbara, Nikki (Travis) Hill, Christian Niemeyer, and 10 great-grandchildren. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her beloved son Chris Niemeyer. Services will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 4200 S. Atlanta Ave., Tulsa on Friday, March 24. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, one of Sue's favorite charities.
