Susan Diane Scroggins Eubanks passed at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Sunday, April 11, 2021, after a short illness.
Susan was born May 1960, to Ray and Nancy Hunteman Scroggins in the old downtown Edmond Hospital. The family lived in several Oklahoma communities: Oklahoma City, Weatherford, Elk City, and Enid before settling in Wilburton for 11 years. At the beginning of Susan's senior year in high school, the family moved back to Weatherford, Oklahoma.
In high school, Susan enjoyed being a member of the Wilburton Digger Band and the Weatherford Eagle Band where she played the saxophone, was a twirler, and part of the rifle team.
After high school, Susan continued her education in Office Administration earning a Bachelor of Science in 1983 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. During her college years, Susan enjoyed her time being a member of Alpha Gamma Delta where she lived in "the house" making many life-long friends.
During and after college, Susan worked at the 3M Company as well as the City of Weatherford. She even did a short stint working the door at the legendary J.C. Cowboys.
In May 1986, Susan presented the family with a son, Hunter Murdock. Hunter brought much joy and love to Susan's life. She loved him with every ounce of her being. During Hunter's high school days, Susan was able to relive many of her joys of participating in a high school band by serving as the Band Parent Association President. Susan was able to bond with Hunter and many of his buddies through this experience.
The family moved to El Reno, Oklahoma in 1996. At that time, Susan earned her insurance license and began commuting to Oklahoma City to work for Tall Paul Mead Insurance. In 1999, she began working for Oklahoma State Insurance Commission. She served there until 2002, at that time she transferred to the Oklahoma State Treasurer Office.
In 2008, Susan met the love of her life, Ken Eubanks. They married in December 2009 in Key West, Florida. Ken and Susan maintained homes in El Reno and Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma until 2015. At that time the couple made Lake Eufaula their permanent home.
In 2015, Susan began working for the McIntosh Health Department. Susan loved working for the Health Department; she leaves behind many special friends through this experience. Her willingness to give all has been essential during the Year of COVID.
Ken and Susan shared many hobbies: traveling, cruising, casino-ing, and laughing. They enjoyed having friends and family spend time with them at the lake. They love the community of friends who they have embraced while living at the lake.
Susan loved cooking (a great cook at that), known for her peanut clusters state-wide! She loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, and playing computer games.
Susan always put others first. She had a great sense of humor, sometimes a bit off the wall; it was one of the things that made her special. One of her sayings was "I am a book of useless knowledge", and another would be if she saw a loose dog, she would comment the dog "broke jail".
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Nancy Scroggins, her grandmothers, Doris Shipman Hunteman and Ellen Wingo Blakely, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, a very special aunt-Dorothy Hunteman, and her beloved basset hounds, Charlie and Taby.
Susan is survived by her husband Ken, her son Hunter of El Reno, as well as Hunter's girlfriend Linda Keller and her daughter, Lexi, loving and caring, sister Sandy Scroggins of Hydro, Oklahoma, and in-laws Loyd and Sue Eubanks of Eufaula. Susan leaves behind dear friends and brother/sister-in-law, Cliff and Mandy Eubanks of Keller, Texas, and special friend, Garnett Rogers of Eufaula.
She is survived by a dear friend who she considered a daughter, Stephanie Sewell. A special "thank you" to Derek Tarwater and Stephanie for sharing their daughters, Emily and Riley, allowing Susan to be their "Granna".
Susan touched countless lives leaving them with many loving memories: the Sandy Bass Bay Group, the McIntosh County Health Department, and the Oklahoma State Treasurer's Office.
