Obituary

Terry Hugh Mahon departed this life into the loving arms of His Heavenly Father on November 14, 2024. Terry was born on January 19, 1939 in Portland, Oregon to Hugh and Annabelle Mahon. Terry attended high school in Portland and graduated in 1956; he joined the Armed Services in September of that same year and trained proudly as an Army paratrooper.

After leaving the army, Terry's business dealings took him to Dallas, Texas where he worked in the oil and gas industry. This eventually led him to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life, Shirley. They married one short year after meeting and would've celebrated 51 years on November 23. With this marriage came three daughters who he took as his own, and a set of in-laws whom he lovingly helped care for over a 13-year period. Terry and Shirley lived in Branson, Missouri, Las Vegas, Nevada and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma over the course of their marriage.

Terry had a bright and funny personality and never knew a stranger. He had a sharp business mind and overcame many obstacles in his life with grace and humor. His children and grandchildren loved him fiercely.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Annabelle Mahon as well as a granddaughter, Cristy Martinez. Terry is survived by his wife of almost 51 years, Shirley Ann Mahon of Coweta, Oklahoma, daughters Sherry Shafer of Granbury, Texas, Debbie Steck and her husband Allen of Caldwell, Texas and Tammy Harrell and her husband Wes of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Although he loved all of his daughters well, he had an extra special bond with his youngest Tammy, which would not be denied. Terry also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren, Danny, Melissa, Josh, Jordan, Katelin and Zach as well as eight great-grandchildren. We will all miss him desperately. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Tula Veterans Administration which provided him outstanding care in his last year as well as Rivercrest Hospice which made his last days a little easier for everyone. Go in Peace Harry…see you on the other side. John 14:1-4
