Warren Willard Schmidt, 64, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away December 25, 2014 in Tulsa. He was born on January 1, 1950 to Raymond and Ruth (Patterson) Schmidt in Tulsa. Warren is survived by his loving family. Survivors include his: sister, Patty Galbraith (Barry); sister-in-law, Connie Schmidt; niece: Kathryn Savage (Malcolm); nephews: George Schmidt, Dennis Schmidt, Jr., Jeffrey Schmidt (Rachel); numerous great nieces and nephews; Aunts: Eunice Jamison and Edna Glidden; Uncle, Neal Patterson and a host of other relatives that will miss him always. Warren was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on New Years Day of 1950. He was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1968. After graduation he joined the US Coast Guard and served in Viet Nam based on Con Son Island. After a two-year stint in the military, he entered college at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. He graduated with a Bachelors degree majoring in Information Technology and minoring in Zoology. Warren held several jobs in the field of information technology with Phillips Petroleum, Cyprus Minerals, EDS and Saber Corp. These positions took him from Bartlesville to Denver to Colorado Springs and back to Tulsa where he eventually took early retirement from Saber. Warrens love of nature and animals found him in the role of docent at the Tulsa Zoo for over ten years. He loved his weekends at the zoo showing off the animals and explaining all about them to guests of the Zoo. His other great interest was travel. Over the years he has visited many countries in Europe and had a particular interest in returning to Italy as he continued to work on his Italian language skills. Warren had an extended family of wonderful friends and they, along with his family, will miss him greatly. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Cremation Society Chapel, 2103 E. 3rd St., Tulsa, OK 74104. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donation to the Tulsa Zoo Friends.
