Obituary

William 'Bill' Lloyd Harris, 79, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on October 7, 2016 at Hillcrest Heart Hospital. Bill was born November 26, 1936, in Tulsa, OK, to C. Fred Harris and Olive R. Osterhout Harris, both deceased. He was quick to share a Tulsa story of his growing up years. Bill met and married Jobeth and they had a son, Kent Randall Harris. In later years Bill met and married, his wife of 29 years., Carolyn. Her two children from a previous marriage became an extended family that he loved and appreciated. He is survived by his brother, David Harris, Ft. Smith, Arkansas; son: Kent; grandchildren: Corey R. Palmer, Chelsea N. Barror, Kaitlyn N. Palmer and a great granddaughter: Victory Shrewsbury. Bill's career spanded nearly 40 yrs at Flintco Construction Solutions and is well respected in the construction industry. His pride in what he did was evidenced by his sharing the landmarks in Tulsa with others. Many sites would have a story of Flintco's involvement. He joined ANG in 1958, just before graduation from OSU. And then U.S Air Force serving one year on active duty. The majority of his years were served locally with the ANG. He was commander of Civil Engineering Squardron of the 138th, retiring as Lt. Colonel. With that career came travel opportunities seeing parts of world and USA. Bill loved reading, traveling and being on the tractor of the rural property. TU sports was a favorite pastime for many years as was square dancing and round dancing. We participated in the Green Country Mustang Club of Tulsa and made many friends and memories of Christmas , VA and other local parades. HS football coronations would request a convertible and we enjoyed driving the young people around the field. Bill passion for life will be missed, but his spirit is with me. A memorial service will be held on November 12 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, McBirney Chapel. In lieu of flowers, plant a tree in Bill's memory or make a contribution to your favorite charity or church. Come celebrate a life well-lived.
